Back in September, I warned you that Jones Soda was coming out with Bacon Soda. It made it's appearance a few days ago and even my mom has emailed me about it.
J&D's and Jones has teamed up and are offering the Bacon Soda as part of a gift pack with only two sodas. I'm not sure why you can't buy the soda separately and it looks like it probably won't make it into the stores. That said, the J&D’s Bacon Jones Soda Gift Pack is pretty cool and only $9.99.
You can pick up the gift pack at either J&D's Store or from Jones Soda.
Included is:
Two bottles of Bacon Soda
One bag of Cheddar BaconPOP
One packet of J&D's Country Style Bacon Gravy
J&D’s Bacon Lip Balm $ 9.99
I figure I'll try one of the soda's and keep the other on my bacon paraphernalia shelf. I'll let you know how it tastes once I get it! Truthfully, I'm a little scared but excited at the same time.

Effervescent Bacon Drink Tablets
Effervescent Bacon Drink Tablets -$3.50
Even I think that the bacon madness may have gone a little too far with this but...it is kinda cool in a weird novelty way. I'm pretty sure the people at Archie McPhee are high all the time, you need to be to think up things like this. If you drop one of these magic tablets into a glass of water it will instantly begin to dissolve, creating a cascade of bubbles that will infuse the water with a delicious bacon flavor. They say they work just as well in milk or juice but that's kinda gross. Each tin contains about fifteen tablets.
Thanksgiving Gumballs - $3.50
There's no bacon in these Thanksgiving gumballs but I think they're neat although I don't expect them to be that tasty. They remind me of the three-course dinner gum from Willy Wonka although I hope these don't require a trip to the Juicing Room. Each tin contains about twenty-two gumballs in the classic flavors of Thanksgiving - turkey, cranberry and pumpkin pie. While we're on the subject, scientists are working on gum that would taste like a three-course mean. For realz.
In other exciting bacon news, a few weeks ago, I was checking out an amazing looking recipe for Praline Bacon Ice Cream on the excellent ice cream blog, Scoop Adventures. Ice cream maker extraordinaire, Lindsay, made some for the Bacon Takedown in New Orleans.
She was also giving away 10 pounds of bacon from Hormel and an awesome Bacon Takedown apron. I entered and actually WON! I've been handing out free bacon to friends and family and the Bacon Takedown apron looks great hanging in my kitchen. Thanks so much to Lindsay and please check out her blog, it's got some really interesting ice cream concoctions!
I'll be on vacation in L.A. starting later this week and my goal is to find the Lardon Bacon Truck. Wish me luck!

More Skulls Than You Can Shake A Fist At
It's been way too long since I've been able to get a post up and the skulls have been piling up. I'm completely out of money to buy more skull things yet I can't pass them up. I'm thinking of selling a kidney or something to scrape up some dough.
Grandin Road has the swankiest Halloween Skulls. The skull window panel is to die for and the skull tablecloth and pillows are fabulous.
Damask Skull Window Panel - $22.00
Close Up:
Gothic Skull Table Toppers - $49.00
Gothic Skull Throw Pillows - $24.00
Even Kohl's is getting in on the skull action with some nice tableware and kitchen towels.
Flocked Skull & Crossbones Table Runner - $29.99
Skull & Crossbones Flocked Placemats - $6.99
Skull & Crossbones Kitchen Towel - $5.99
Some tasty skull chocolate lollipops from Godiva aren't cheap but you know that chocolate is to die for.
3 Skull chocolate Lollipops - $15.00
I hate licorice but these are just too cute.
Licorice Skulls from Harry & David - $7.95
If you're into baking, Wilton has fantastic skull stuff. The cake pan seems to be sold out in most places so if the 3-D skull cake pan strikes your fancy you probably need to get in on that pretty quick.
Wilton Skulls Baking Cups - $1.99
Wilton Skull Cupcake Stand - $5.99
Wilton Skull Parasol Pix - $1.99
Wilton Dimensions 3-D Aluminum Skull Pan - Sale $24.49
Even with just a powdered sugar coating this skull cake is awesome.
Tomorrow I head to Macy's where my brother spotted some fancy skull pillows that they don't have on their website. My credit card is ready and what's the problem with a little debt anyway?

Bunch O' Bacon Links
Keeping you abreast of this week's bacon news!
J&D Foods, of Bacon Salt and Baconnaise fame, have commissioned an artist to make a life-size bust of Kevin Bacon entirely out of bacon. The bust is being auctioned off on Ebay starting today and the proceeds go to charity. "Bacon Kevin Bacon has been well-lacquered and will stay tasty for generations to come."

Killer Burger in Portland, OR, opens their doors with their Peanut-Butter-Pickle-Bacon-Burger, a sweet-and-savory peanut-butter-pickle-bacon concoction, which smears a sweet housemade peanut sauce on top of a dill pickle. I'd try it!

The Bacon Tattoo trend keeps chugging along with this masterpiece.

If you're in my area and looking for a place to imbibe and snarf some bacon, The Whiskey Brooklyn has a "Bowl O' Bacon" on the menu.

IHOP jumps on the bacon-bandwagon with their new Bacon 'N Beef Burgers. The Bacon 'N Beef Cheeseburger, Bacon 'N Beef Bacon & Egg Cheeseburger, Bacon 'N Beef Bacon Cheeseburger, Bacon 'N Beef Mega Mushroom Burger and Monster Bacon 'N Beef Cheeseburger have hickory-smoked bacon blended right into the beef so there's delicious with bacon flavor in every bite.

Sending hate packages of bacon to American mosques is not an acceptable use of bacon.

Skulls @ Target - Halloween 2010
Man, I have been trying to get this post up all week but I am in serious skull shopping overload and now completely broke. Went to my local Target on Sunday and picked up TONS of new stuff. The shelves were a little bare so I'm not sure if they were ransacked before I got there or if they were still putting stuff out. One things for sure, Target's halloween stuff is going quick. Quite a few of the items I wanted to post for you guys are already out of stock online.
This skull candy dish is my pick of the year from Target but it's only sold online. Fortunately, they have a great free shipping offer on a lot of the halloween items right now if you spend $50.00.
Boston Warehouse Bone Collector Footed Candy Dish - $19.99
Halloween Skeleton Piggy Bank - $9.99
Multi Skull Melamine Dinner Plate (Set of 6) - $11.99
This is my 3rd skull cookie jar and they have another one in silver that's only sold online.
Earthenware Skull Cookie Jar - $19.99
This skull platter is online only too.
Skull Earthenware Serving Platter - $14.99
Ceramic Skull Salt and Pepper Shakers - $4.99
Skull Serving Tray - $4.99
Once I'm able to I'll post a pic of my skull windfall from Target. Some of the stuff I found, like the most awesome black on black skull tablecloth ever, aren't even on the website at all!

Lardon - L.A.'s All Bacon Food Truck!
I can't believe it actually took this long for it to happen, but the wait is over...America now has an all bacon food truck! Lardon is roaming around Los Angeles, CA starting today and it's not so coincidental that I'm taking a vacation to L.A. in October.
I'm pretty tempted to steal that truck and drive it right to NYC, eating up all of the bacon goodies on the way.
In the meantime, if you're in their area, you should follow Lardon on Twitter and Facebook for their latest whereabouts. And check out their menu!
I'll take a Brioche French Toast Sandwich with Bacon Bourbon Maple Syrup and crumbled bacon, some Chicken Wings Covered in Bacon Hot Sauce with hot sauce-covered bacon served with Bacon Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce, a Bacone and a couple of brownies from Lark Cake Shop, topped with bacon Nutella spread for dessert.
*Sigh*...my vacation can't get here soon enough.
