Bacon Rice Krispies Treats

Mr. Dave from the Ridiculous Food Society has gone and done it again! He's taken a scrumptious treat right out of my daydreams and made it a reality.

Bacon Rice Krispies Treats is something even I could not screw up. I wonder how this would taste with some chocolate chips thrown into the mix? Anyway, go to Mr. Dave's blog for the step-by-step instructions on how to make some for yourself.

USB Flash Drive Skull Ring

There's no way a 2GB flash drive is worth $191.58 but I gotta say that this is the niftiest novelty flash drive I've ever seen. Available via Geek Stuff 4 U, the USB Flash Drive Skull Ring is made of metal comes in a variety of colors. The hefty price tag is due to these being hand made in Japan when you place an order and it can take from two to three weeks to make and ship. I'm hoping the knock-offs are coming soon!

This is pushing it

I am assuming this Ebay auction for a dubious American Eagle Shaped piece of Bacon is a joke.

If you're interested the auction is only live for the next 6 hours. Or if you prefer, I'll send you an entire piece of bacon shaped like a strip of bacon from this mornings breakfast for the amazing price of only $10.

Seen anything interesting in your bacon lately?

As long as I'm on the topic, here's some more food related Engrish for you:

The Wellness Skull & Sensory Deprivation Skull

The Wellness Skull & The Sensory Deprivation Skull are the creations of Dutch artist Joep van Lieshout.

Currently situated near a busy Vienna intersection, the Wellness Skull is a 15 foot ball of relaxation. The head of the Skull contains a sauna and when it is in use, hot steam pours out of the eye sockets. On either side of the neck is a small bath and shower.

It officially goes on display as part of an effort by Public Art Vienna to revitalize and enhance urban space around the capital. Although the skull is fully functional, visitors will only be able to go inside every first Saturday of the month or by appointment through March 15, 2009.

The Sensory Deprivation Skull is the most awesome thing I've seen where you can sit and cut yourself off from the rest of the world. When this was created in 2007, they were only available in a limited edition of 10, so I'm going to assume that they were totally snatched up in a matter of moments.

I realize that these are not pieces that are readily available but they really should be. Wouldn't you want one of those skull chairs? You know my neighbors would love a giant skull with steam pouring from the eye sockets in my backyard. I know I would.

J&D's Bacon Flavored Lip Balm

If you're a serious bacon lover, I'm sure by now you are already familiar with J&D's Bacon Salt and the newer Baconnaise. J&D has a new item and I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Yep, that's right it's J&D's Bacon Flavored Lip Balm. Soon, it'll be bacon kisses for everyone!

Also, I hadn't realized that J&D added a whole bunch of new Bacon Salt flavors that sound really interesting - Applewood, Maple, Cheddar, Jalapeno and Mesquite.

Faux Bacon Cake

Staying on the cake theme for a moment, here's a fabulous bacon-themed cake that (regrettably) has no actual bacon in it.

You can read the story behind it on Snarkygurl's Flickr set.

How delicious does that bacon frosting look?

Homemade Skull Cake

I tried to make a skull cake once. I'm no great baker but I like to think I am. My attempt, while tasty, was kind of a mess. Definitely nothing like Jennifer Barrett's Halloween experiment with fondant:

Jennifer, this cake looks awesome! I hate when things look so cool you feel guilty eating them.

Jim Gaffigan Loves Bacon

Last night my friend Tim was performing at the comedy club, Comix. so a friend and I went to see him. It was New Talent Show night which is a mix of new talent with seasoned pros and celebrity drop-ins. To be honest, we were kinda hoping to just catch Tim's act and head out the door, however, if you've ever been to an intimate comedy club, you know it's not that easy without becoming a target. Two hours in, I was looking at my watch, needing the bathroom and looking for any opportunity to sneak away when they announced the guest headliner - Jim Gaffigan!

When he walked out on the stage I had to stifle my urge to yell out, "Bacon!" Instead, I proclaimed "BACON!" to my friend, who had no idea what I was talking about. If you've never seen Jim rant and rave about bacon before, you should watch this video:

I really wanted to meet him after the show but he disappeared pretty quickly. It's probably a good thing because I'm sure I would have babbled some bacon nonsense to him and come off looking like a total wack-job. Anyhow, I was inordinately excited to catch his act in person. I floated home on wing's of bacon.

“Whenever I'm at a brunch buffet and they have that big metal tray filled with the 4000 pieces of bacon, I always think, if I was here by myself...I would eat only bacon. I would steal this tray, go lay down, and eat bacon all day.”

So would I. In fact, I'll be in Atlantic City in a few days where the breakfast buffets have neverending bacon. I'll let you know how it goes.

My good friend Alaina sent me a link to Robert Lee Morris's "Andy Warhol Collection" and these pieces are absolutely fabulous. Available at Bloomingdale's, each piece is inscribed with one of the artist’s famous sayings. While it's a little out of my price range right now, the holidays are coming soon and my wish list just exploded.
