We're getting into the time of year where I have to repeatedly remind myself that paying rent is actually more important than buying every new fantastic skull item in stores for Halloween. There's a thin line between want and need, at least in my mind. Anyone that's been shopping with me knows what I'm talking about. I'm not kidding either, I already have $200 worth of stuff in my Target.com shopping cart and that's just one store.
Here's the debate as it plays out in my head-
Me: "Oh my god, I really want that skull [fill in the blank].
Frugal Me: "You've said that 12 times in the last five minutes, you can't afford everything you want."
Me: "But it's so F'in cool, how can I pass that up?"
Frugal Me: "Where the hell are you going to put this stuff anyway, you don't have room for the stuff you already have!"
Me: "But this skull stuff only comes out for one season. If I don't buy it now then I'll never be able to get it again!"
Frugal Me: "You win."
That said, here's my want list from Pottery Barn.

You and me both. LOL I think this year they've really outdone themselves at Target because I want one of everything! I've already spent a good $80 on those skull and raven plates, bowls etc and the napkins rings and towels. And that's just Target!
ReplyDeleteThe really awesome stuff I know better than to try and wait until it goes on sale. I never end up getting it before someone else snags it all. Curses!
I covet those vampire teeth placeholders too.
I'm so glad to know I'm not alone. Seriously, check out my post for just some of the stuff I picked up: http://skullsandbacon.blogspot.com/2008/09/skull-bonanza-at-target.html
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I spent as much as I did but I know that I won't regret it for a minute.
