Have you been waiting to try Bacon Salt, Baconnaise or the highly popular Bacon Lip Balm? Well, today is the day to plunk down your dough and find out what everyone else has been raving about. Amazon is having a sale on Bacon Salt products TODAY ONLY (20%-36% off).
All the Bacon Salt flavors are here: Original, Hickory, Peppered, and Natural Bacon Salt and several Limited Edition flavors - Applewood, Jalapeno, Mesquite, Cheddar and Maple. I've only had the original so far and I am excited to try Applewood and Maple. They mostly come in packs of three (for only $9!) but you can store them for later or they make great gifts! I gave a jar of Baconnaise away as a birthday present a few months ago.
The Bacon Salt items are eligible for Amazon's FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25 so I would suggest that you add Heather Lauer's (from Bacon Unwrapped) shiny new book, Bacon: A Love Story: A Salty Survey of Everybody's Favorite Meat ($12.23) to your shopping cart. When that bacon-y package comes in the mail, you won't be disappointed.
As my mom would say, "Move it or lose it!"

You Can Own Cameron Frye's House!
If you have $2.3 million to spend that is.
Obviously I'm veering off the skulls and bacon theme here but I had to post this as "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is one of my all-time favorite movies. The scene where Cameron sends his dad's Ferrari crashing through the glass wall and into the woods is iconic.
The Highland Park, Illinois house made famous by the 1986 movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is for sale. The most famous feature of this architecturally stunning, art-filled, 5,300-square-foot house is its steel and glass "pavilion" that hangs over the ravine. The pavilion contains a wall of memorabilia dedicated to the movie, including pictures of actors Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck taken during the filming. The owners were avid car collectors and the space is still used for special car events, such as a Ferrari Club meeting held there last weekend.

More pictures of the house are here.
Ferris: [describing Cameron's house] The place is like a museum. It's very beautiful and very cold, and you're not allowed to touch anything.

Bacon Tuxedo Joke Gift Box
I'm sure that by now any respectable bacon lover has seen the bacon tuxedo. Sadly, this bacon-scented formal wear was just an April fools joke, however, Archie McPhee knows the power of bacon and has just released this Bacon Tuxedo Joke Gift Box ($5.95).
Just put your real gift in this 9" x 13" x 3" Bacon Tuxedo Gift Box and depending on the gift receiver you may get either a priceless horrified look as the gift is unwrapped or a very disappointed bacon-lover! The box is detailed enough to make even the cleverest recipient think twice. To quote the guarantee from the side of the box, "If you find a better Bacon Tux, I'll refund you money, plus throw in 5 lbs. of thick-cut bacon for your trouble."
Also available is the Gravy Fountain Joke Gift Box of which I am only partly ashamed to admit that I wish it was a real product.

Sweet & Salty Pigs in a Blanket
Today I was perusing an article about the latest Candy Expo in Chicago where apparently bacon was featured more then ever before. No big surprise there really. However, they mentioned that the Sugardale Foods Booth were serving bacon-wrapped donut holes and I can't figure out why I haven't thought of this perfect-sized finger food before. Sure, we've all see the bacon-topped donuts by now but not wrapped holes. Perfect for hors d'oeuvres!
So I went to the Sugardale Foods site since I hadn't heard of them before and that's where I found this recipe (modified by me slightly). So simple yet so yummy sounding.
Ingredients:
2 pkgs. Hotdogs
2 pkgs. Bacon (they suggest ready-made but I say Nay to that so I would suggest cooking until they are almost done but still pliable)
2 cups Pancake syrup
Directions
1.Cut each hotdog into 4 bite-size pieces.
2.Cut each slice of bacon in half.
3.Wrap a piece of bacon around each bite-size weiner piece and secure with a toothpick.
4.Place all of the wrapped piece in a slow cooker and cover with the syrup.
5.Heat until warm (about an hour).
6.Stir occasionally and serve warm.
You know I don't post recipes much because I am not the best cook but this looks easy and sounds great for a holiday weekend get-together. I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!

Ruffian Skull Earphones

I'm not sure what they are trying to say on the page for these awesome Ruffian Skull Earphones - $69.99:
"RUFFIAN's all metal molded casing chases that shot of fizzy soda water that leaves a tingle in your mouth with a tall, cool glass of proverbial gasoline."
What? It doesn't matter, I love these. They gotta look awesome sticking out of your ears.

Stainless Steel Skull Doorbell
I'm thinking of installing this doorbell on the outside of my bedroom door since I'm pretty sure my landlord wouldn't appreciate me removing the double-bell that's currently in use at the front door. Maybe I should just purchase it and wait until the day I am a homeowner, which could be never, but would still be worth it since this is the first skull doorbell ($38.95) I've seen that isn't some cheap halloween gag.
Product Details:
- Solid stainless steel, 3/16" thick, with a brushed finish.
- Illuminated LED push buttons less than 1 watt, and last approx. 11 years.
- LED buttons available in Ring-Light, or DOT style.
- Push Buttons come in two voltages: 12V (8-12 Volts AC) & 16V (12-16 Volts AC).
- Doorbell Buttons are theft-resistant. Each button is secured on the back of the doorbell cover by a hex-nut.
- Will work with new or existing doorbell systems, and can replace most garage door opener buttons.
