Obviously I'm veering off the skulls and bacon theme here but I had to post this as "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is one of my all-time favorite movies. The scene where Cameron sends his dad's Ferrari crashing through the glass wall and into the woods is iconic.

The Highland Park, Illinois house made famous by the 1986 movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is for sale. The most famous feature of this architecturally stunning, art-filled, 5,300-square-foot house is its steel and glass "pavilion" that hangs over the ravine. The pavilion contains a wall of memorabilia dedicated to the movie, including pictures of actors Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck taken during the filming. The owners were avid car collectors and the space is still used for special car events, such as a Ferrari Club meeting held there last weekend.

Sweet & Salty Pigs in a Blanket

Today I was perusing an article about the latest Candy Expo in Chicago where apparently bacon was featured more then ever before. No big surprise there really. However, they mentioned that the Sugardale Foods Booth were serving bacon-wrapped donut holes and I can't figure out why I haven't thought of this perfect-sized finger food before. Sure, we've all see the bacon-topped donuts by now but not wrapped holes. Perfect for hors d'oeuvres!

So I went to the Sugardale Foods site since I hadn't heard of them before and that's where I found this recipe (modified by me slightly). So simple yet so yummy sounding.

Ingredients:
2 pkgs. Hotdogs
2 pkgs. Bacon (they suggest ready-made but I say Nay to that so I would suggest cooking until they are almost done but still pliable)
2 cups Pancake syrup

Directions
1.Cut each hotdog into 4 bite-size pieces.
2.Cut each slice of bacon in half.
3.Wrap a piece of bacon around each bite-size weiner piece and secure with a toothpick.
4.Place all of the wrapped piece in a slow cooker and cover with the syrup.
5.Heat until warm (about an hour).
6.Stir occasionally and serve warm.

You know I don't post recipes much because I am not the best cook but this looks easy and sounds great for a holiday weekend get-together. I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!

Stainless Steel Skull Doorbell

I'm thinking of installing this doorbell on the outside of my bedroom door since I'm pretty sure my landlord wouldn't appreciate me removing the double-bell that's currently in use at the front door. Bacon Lube Is Coming!

You may remember the fake bacon products I posted on April Fool's Day. Well, the good (and smart!) folks over at BaconSalt got so much positive feedback on the Bacon Lube that they decided to make it a reality.

On Tuesday, May 12th, the first samples of BaconLube arrived at J&D's Foods global HQ in Seattle, WA. Behold!



I'm not sure how long it takes for products to go from samples to ready to buy, but I'm hoping we'll be able to pre-order this otherwise it might be akin to trying to find a Cabbage Patch doll in 1983.

Thoughts on the Swine Flu Hamdemic

Now that some of the hoopla surrounding Swine Flu, aka H1N1, has simmered down a bit, it's time for me to weigh in. It's not that I don't think this flu is something to take seriously but it's not the end of the world folks so let's have some fun with this.



To all the people who told me to stock up on bacon before it's outlawed, there's some good articles for you to read, like Wash Your Hands, Eat the Bacon and If you Stop Eating Bacon, Swine Flu Wins.

If you really want to help out, you can be safe and fashionable with these masks.

R.I.P. Dom DeLuise

Sorry I've been MIA, I took a long road trip to Virginia this past weekend and am just now recovering. Did you miss me? Anyhow, today I am very sad to find that Dom DeLuise has passed away. I am a huge fan of his, Cannonball Run being one of my favorite movies ever, not to mention Silent Movie, Hot Stuff, Fatso, Wholly Moses and a whole bunch more. Dom was a big friend to the Muppets so my tribute to him will be this clip where Dom visits Koozbane.
