Compartes Gourmet Chocolate Skulls

COMPARTES CHOCOLATIER from Los Angeles creates gourmet chocolate and handcrafted artisan confections like these super cute Mexican Hot Chocolate Truffles - dark chocolate truffles infused with a sinful blend of mexican hot chocolate spices including cayenne and cinnamon.

They have several different chocolates adorned with a skull design -- including gold skulls, silver skull bark, skull lollipops and their raspberry pink pepper which features neon pink skull and heart design. They also do skull gift sets for Halloween and by special order year round.

I didn't see some of these on the website but contact Compartes for more information. They look so amazing, I would almost feel guilty eating them!

Brooklyn BACON PARTY - Oct. 4th

If you live around NYC, epic nomz has arranged a bacon party on Oct. 4th. Everyone is welcome and it’s BYOB(acon).

Here are the details I pulled off of their blog:

Meet up near the grilling area in Prospect Park near the 11th St. entrance on the west side of the park (google map). There is an outdoor amphitheater near the grills, so just look for that, then follow the smell of sweet bacon and you’ll find the spot.

What to bring:
1) Some bacon of your choice. Try to bring your favorite for all to taste and compare.
2) Beverages. Since it’s a park, you’re not supposed to drink alcohol in it. But some will try, and some will succeed.
3) Other things to occupy time with. (Footballs, Frisbees, and whatnot)
4) NOMZ

Also: Great News! Rocco from BaconFreak.com is helping to sponsor this party with bacon. You should probably go to his site and sign up for the bacon of the month club, right now.

Important:

IF YOU ARE COMING, PLEASE RSVP HERE:

I am not affiliated with epic nomz so please head over to their blog if you'd like to attend and have any questions.

If you have any doubts about their love of bacon, just check out their creation...

Skull Bonanza at Target

I lost my mind at Target this weekend, almost literally. When I walked into the newly set up Halloween section, my heart started racing, my jaw dropped and I think I may have even drooled a little bit. Then I started racing up the aisles throwing everything into my shopping cart like a mad woman. I may have even run over some kids, I'm not really sure. All I know is that I dropped a buck fifty on only skull stuff and the cashier definitely thought I was strange.

Here's the thing about Target, some of the stuff they have is only online and other stuff isn't on their website at all but you can find it in the store. You really need to check out both to see all they have to offer. Target's Halloween items move pretty fast and usually once they're gone, they're gone.

Here's some of what I bought from the store:

Melamine Square Black Skull Dinnerware Collection
These are even better looking than the picture, the skull is silver not white.

Frosted Glass Skull Candleholder
Larger than it looks, perfect for a pillar candle.

Earthenware Skull Cookie Jar
So freaking cute, I can't believe this was only $15!

Classic Greeter Halloween Décor
The picture doesn't do this piece justice. It's HUGE and I'm thinking of using this to hold a big potted plant. There was only one in the store I went to.

Glass Bowl with Skull
Amazing design, great quality, thick glass.

Day of the Dead Magnet Set
Didn't see this in the store but I need to put an order in online anyway.

I'll take some pictures later this week of these other great finds I picked up that aren't online:
Skull Shower Curtain Hooks
Skull Kitchen Towels
Placemats and Coasters
Beaded Skull Charger
Skull Chocolate
Skull Picture Frame
Black Skull Candle Holder filled with Skull Candy

Krispy Kreme Bacon Delight

This gem was found over at Cake Wrecks, a blog that just made coffee shoot out my nose. They normally showcase unintentionally hilarious disastourous cakes like this:

Anyway, they wandered off their tradional cake path with their post on this culinary wonder from Bompas & Parr. While their Krispy Kreme burger (what no bacon???) is nothing new ; the Krispy Kreme Bacon Sandwich is a beauty to behold...

Bompas & Parr debuts these sandwiches today, September 20th, at the Abergavenny Food Festival in Britain. If you're not in the U.K. though, this seems a pretty simple sandwich to put together....if you're brave enough.

Skull Shopping Season begins!

We're getting into the time of year where I have to repeatedly remind myself that paying rent is actually more important than buying every new fantastic skull item in stores for Halloween. There's a thin line between want and need, at least in my mind. Anyone that's been shopping with me knows what I'm talking about. I'm not kidding either, I already have $200 worth of stuff in my Target.com shopping cart and that's just one store.

Here's the debate as it plays out in my head-

Me: "Oh my god, I really want that skull [fill in the blank].
Frugal Me: "You've said that 12 times in the last five minutes, you can't afford everything you want."
Me: "But it's so F'in cool, how can I pass that up?"
Frugal Me: "Where the hell are you going to put this stuff anyway, you don't have room for the stuff you already have!"
Me: "But this skull stuff only comes out for one season. If I don't buy it now then I'll never be able to get it again!"
Frugal Me: "You win."

That said, here's my want list from Pottery Barn.

Skull Pillar Candle - $10.00
Bone Candleholder - $19.00

Skull Votive Candleholder - $19.00

Skull Tray - $24.00

Glitter Skull - $19.00

Skull Candle - $19.00

Vampire Teeth Place Card Holder - $20.00

Skull Lamps, Toliet Seats & Bigfoot

Design Toscanocalls themselves the country’s premier source for statues and other historical and antique replicas, and I just love browsing the site. They have a great Medieval and Gothic section and some really awesome skull items as well. 90% of their products are exclusive to the Design Toscano brand, allowing them to present unusual decorative items unavailable elsewhere. I've picked out a few of my favorites but you definitely want to check out the site for yourself.

VanTiki Skull Tiki Mugs & Curiosities

Each day on the internet I run into new things to covet and VanTiki's one-of-a-kind sculptures are my newest obsession. Artist Henrik Van Ryzin creates each VanTiki mug entirely by hand. The imagination and detail that goes into one of works of art are nothing short of spectacular.

When a new Mug nears completion, a link to its own page with detailed photos and a start date for its eBay auction will be posted to his site. You can join the Mailing List for any eBay news. Pictured here are just a few of the more recent pieces, check the website for more.

Cannibal Idol #1

The Bone Box Experiments

The Golden Skull of Mystery Tile

The Trepanning Accident
(This one was found on another great site, Ooga-Mooga, where you can track your mug collection, buy, sell and trade mugs with other collectors, among other things.)

Spooky Skull Tiles
These stoneware Skull Tiles are available on the site now and are totally affordable at $20 each.

The Skull Tiles have a wall-hanging notch on the back and I can already picture one looking incredible hanging on my wall.
